How Palworld Breeding Works

Breeding in Palworld combines two parent Pals to produce an egg that hatches into a child species. The result is determined by the game's breeding rules, including hidden breeding-power values and a growing set of special combinations. Because a single child can often be created by many parent pairs, a good calculator should do more than return one answer. It should help you compare routes based on the Pals you already own.

The Breed Two Pals tool answers the forward question: “What will these parents produce?” Select any two species or variants and the result appears immediately. The order of the parents does not matter, but a small number of recipes have gender requirements. When a rule requires opposite or fixed genders, that constraint appears beside the result.

The Parent Finder works in reverse. Choose the Pal you want, such as Anubis, Lyleen, or Shadowbeak, and the calculator lists valid parent combinations from the current dataset. This is especially useful when several recipes lead to the same target. You can scan the list for parents already available in your Palbox, then choose the route that best preserves useful passive skills.

The Shortest Breeding Path solves a different planning problem. It treats your selected starting Pal as the current lineage and searches every valid offspring transition. At each generation, the current Pal may breed with any required partner. A breadth-first search then returns a minimum-generation linear path to the target. “Shortest” refers to generation count, not egg timers, capture difficulty, travel time, or passive-skill odds.

Results are generated from the open-source PalCalc project at pinned commit 59d70fe, database v26. The site uses the project's fully materialized breeding table instead of recreating a simplified formula, so special combinations, variants, and explicit gender constraints remain intact. The current release covers 299 Pals and 44,851 normalized rules for Palworld 1.0 / PalCalc v26.

Common questions

Palworld Breeding FAQ

How do I breed Anubis in Palworld?

Choose Anubis in Parent Finder to see all currently supported parent pairs. The best pair depends on which Pals and passive skills you already own, so compare several combinations instead of following a single recipe.

What does shortest breeding path mean?

It is the fewest breeding generations needed to turn a starting Pal into your target. At each generation, the current offspring may breed with any valid partner. The tool shows one minimum-length linear route and the partner required at each step.

Are parent genders important?

Most combinations accept any genders, while some require opposite or specific genders. Every result displays its rule. The calculator does not estimate egg odds or passive-skill inheritance probability.

Why can one parent pair show special rules?

Palworld includes ordinary breeding-power outcomes and hand-authored special combinations. We read the materialized PalCalc rules directly, which preserves special and variant recipes that a simplified formula might miss.

Is the calculator updated for the latest Pals?

This release uses PalCalc database v26 and supports 299 species and variants. The exact data version and source commit are shown on the page so you can judge freshness instead of relying on an unclear latest-data claim.

Does this tool change my game or save file?

No. Everything runs locally in your browser from static data. You do not sign in, upload a save, or connect a game account.
